About the role
Malt is growing rapidly. In order to achieve its ambitious goals, we offer you the opportunity to join the Malt engineering team as a Senior cloud Engineer.
The engineering team is part of the product team that creates the most efficient marketplace for our freelancers and clients. The engineering team also supports the other teams in order to provide them with the tools they need to make their day-to-day life easier.
The product team is also the meeting of various skills. It is composed of about forty people:
- Front-end software engineers (Javascript, TypeScript, VueJS, VanillaJS)
- Software engineers back (Java, Kotlin)
- Product managers
- UX designers
- Cloud engineersÂ
- Data engineers, data scientists & data analysts
We are organized in tribes. Each tribe is responsible for a part of the product (user research, design, architecture, support, technical debt, production...), and imagines the best solutions to reach the product OKRs and thus contribute directly to the company's growth.
At Malt, we believe that curiosity is an asset. The whole team participates in the product architecture, all decisions are collegial and we regularly engage in discussions on the best way to do things.
The team also actively participates in writing articles on our blog, Inside Malt.
As a Senior Cloud Engineer, you will evolve within the Platform tribe and may also be required to regularly assist other tribes of the product team.
You will join a team of 5 experienced people dedicated to the health of our Cloud platform and software factory.
Your playground will be:
- Our Cloud platform (Terraform, Kubernetes, Kustomize, GCP, Postgresql, RabbitMQ, MongoDB, ElasticSearch ...),
- Our code factory (gitlab-ci, ArgoCD ...)
- Our monitoring system (datadog, sentry ...)
As a Senior Cloud Engineer, your missions will be
- Your main mission will be to maintain and improve the quality of service, security and efficiency of our Cloud platform in the context of Malt's strong growth (increasing traffic, opening to new countries, new technical integrations ...)
- You will also participate in improving the operational excellence of the development team.
- One of the strengths of our team is the autonomy of its members, especially regarding production management. Our teams are constantly putting their changes into production (~50 releases per week) and are able to push a change into production in a few dozen minutes.
- By proposing technical, methodological or organizational solutions, you will allow the development teams to measure and improve their efficiency on a daily basis. You will spearhead the SRE practice at Malt.
- You will have the opportunity to participate in our communities of practice (devops, security, backend in particular) and to take part in architectural decision-making.
Preferred experience
- You have at least 5 years of experience as a system administrator, Cloud ops / Cloud engineer or SRE in a company developing and operating a product in the Cloud

- You master all or part of our technical stack described above, including Kubernetes.
- You prefer to fail and correct quickly rather than follow endless validation processes, you know how to organize efficient and actionable post-mortems
